Gabby Agbonlahor makes bold Tottenham vs Leeds claim on talkSPORT: “Wouldn’t surprise me if…”

Leeds United are virtually safe after last week’s win over Burnley took them to 43 points, leaving them in a strong position to remain in the Premier League.

Daniel Farke has been keen to keep expectations in check until survival is mathematically confirmed, although Leeds could secure their status before next Monday’s trip to Tottenham.

Still, the clash in north London could have major implications. A Spurs victory might be enough to secure their own safety, but if Leeds manage to get a result, Tottenham could be dragged back into the relegation battle.

Spurs gave themselves a huge boost over the weekend, too, with their win at Aston Villa lifting them out of the bottom three. Gabby Agbonlahor feels Tottenham have the edge over Leeds ahead of Monday night for one reason.

Gabby Agbonlahor makes a big prediction ahead of Tottenham vs Leeds

The former Aston Villa striker has insisted, regardless of what anyone says, that Leeds are now safe in the Premier League after scoring 43 points.

He believes an in-form Tottenham team are in a good position to beat Leeds on Monday night, given the away side will likely get confirmation of their Premier League survival ahead of the game.

Agbonlahor insisted that for Spurs to feel some pressure, West Ham must get something against Arsenal on Sunday to keep the survival race interesting until the end.

Agboblahor said on talkSPORT on Thursday morning: “Leeds are safe.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if Spurs, they’ve won their last two, go and beat Leeds.

“So, if West Ham can get a result, the pressure is back on Spurs.

“But if West Ham lose, Spurs know that if they win, they are four points ahead with two games to go and better goal difference.”

Whites may decide the fate for Spurs and West Ham

Leeds are home and dry in the survival race, and mathematical confirmation is likely to arrive before they take on Tottenham next Monday night.

They could now play kingmakers in deciding which of the two London clubs face relegation doom at the end of the season.

West Ham will hope that Leeds do not drop their intensity against Tottenham as they need the Whites to get a result in north London to keep the survival race interesting.

However, Leeds could inflict the telling blow to West Ham’s survival hopes on the final day of the season when the two sides will face each other at the London Stadium.
