The Premier League survival battle took another turn this weekend as Leeds United boosted their chances with a 3-1 home win over Burnley.
That result moved Leeds onto 43 points, leaving them all but safe after a strong run of three wins and a draw from their last four matches.
Things look very different elsewhere, though. West Ham’s 3-0 loss to Brentford and Tottenham’s 2-1 win at Aston Villa have shaken things up with three games still to play.
However, Leeds have very little reason to worry at this stage, and they are now set to be mathematically safe from relegation even before the Whites play next.
Leeds United now know when they will be safe from relegation
While no team have ever been relegated from a 38-game Premier League season after scoring 43 points, Daniel Farke has guarded against celebrating before his side are mathematically safe.
Results this weekend have pushed Leeds close to that situation where they will be mathematically out of the running to get relegated this season.
A result against Tottenham in a week will guarantee them survival, but that may happen even before they take the pitch against Spurs in north London next Monday.
If West Ham lose to Arsenal at home next Sunday, Leeds will be mathematically safe with three games to spare in the Premier League.
The pressure will be completely off for Leeds when they play Tottenham away from home next week if the Hammers suffer another defeat next weekend.
Leeds have little to worry about at this stage, but Daniel Farke’s side are likely to be completely unburdened when they take on Spurs in a big game for the north London club.
The Whites can now decide others’ fate
Tottenham’s win over Aston Villa has taken the pressure off them. But their home game against Leeds is still going to be hugely important for Spurs.
A win over the Whites, and Tottenham could start celebrating survival. However, a defeat would put them right back in the mix for relegation.

Alan Shearer has already outlined the importance of West Ham beating Leeds on the final day of the season to have any chance of survival in the top flight.
Leeds may be safe by the time they play Spurs. However, they are likely to play a big role in deciding which team will go down this season.
