Leeds United have been doing great recruitment over the past few years. After the disaster of the summer of 2023, the club had lost a bit of their focus.

The Whites spent a huge sum to back Jesse Marsch after he helped them survive relegation.

A lot of the transfers were former Red Bull players; Leeds signed the likes of Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie, Rasmus Kristensen and Max Wober. Three years since then, most of these players have left the club.

The club have made some very sound decisions since then.

In the Championship, Leeds signed Manor Solomon (on loan), Joel Piroe, Ao Tanaka and Joe Rodon. These players all played a key part helping the club win promotion.

Leeds United eye move for Champions League star

And in the Premier League, Leeds United splashed the cash on some quality additions to the first team.

£100 million last summer got Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Jaka Bijol and Noah Okafor. Some became key players while others like James Justin were solid rotation options.

Going into their second season in the top flight, Leeds should be very busy this summer.

Daniel Farke has mentioned that the club needs to match his ambition, and urged the ownership to invest on the field.

The YEP are reporting that Leeds are exploring a move for attacking midfielder Julian Brandt. The 30-year old is set to leave Borussia Dortmund, and will be a free agent this summer.

The report also believes that the Whites are not the only team interested in Brandt, as one Champions League side are also monitoring a move.

Julian Brandt was a highly rated talent; before Liverpool signed Mohamed Salah, Jurgen Klopp was a huge admirer of the attacking midfielder.

49ers signing Julian Brandt would be a huge statement

Julian Brandt has had a very good career in Germany, playing for one of the country’s best teams.

The attacking midfielder has a lot of experience with club and country. Last season, he had five goals and seven assists in the league, meaning the club can finally find a productive player in the middle of the park.

He can play in midfield or attack, which would give Daniel Farke’s side some flexibility.

Getting a player who comes from a consistent Champions League club would show the fanbase how ambitious the 49ers were. It would be a statement of intent as the club enter their second season in the league.

This kind of transfer is exactly what Farke asked of the ownership recently.
