Leeds United have been linked with moves to midfielders ahead of the January transfer window.
The club lost a lot of players in the middle of the park during the summer window. Archie Gray, Georginio Rutter and Glen Kamara all left the club. Archie Gray had a breakout season last year, and won Leeds Young Player of the year. The midfielder was also named in the EFL Championship team of the Year. Georginio Rutter also provided 15 assists in the Championship last season, he and Joel Piroe had a dangerous partnership up top.
Glen Kamara was initially a rotation option, but grew into the team and gave a calming presence on the ball whenever Daniel Farke needed him. It is the calmness and creativity Leeds have lacked this season, especially in the absence of Ethan Ampadu and Illia Gruev. The duo suffered serious injuries which could see them out until January.

After a possible move for Lewis O’Brien was ruled out, and with the status of Archie Gray unknown, Leeds United have set their sights on Manchester City youngster James McAtee.
Leeds were one of the clubs looking to take the England U21 star on loan in the summer, but Manchester City refused. This season he has been part of the first team, but has not played as many minutes as expected. This could open the door for a loan move in January.
However, Man City boss Pep Guardiola is still adamant that he needs the player in the squad:
“Everyone adores him, you have seen the reaction of the players so everyone loves him,” the boss said.
“I have the feeling the same as in the beginning. With teams who play so deep he has the quality to find it.
“He scored and had a few more chances. I always had the feeling that I believe more he can play here than he does. Hopefully minutes can help him and show that he is part of that.
“Of course, he will not be a regular player this season but in a lot of games he will help us and when he plays like he did today I can always count on him perfectly.”
Will a deal for McAtee be possible?
If McAtee is loaned out, Leeds United will definitely be one of the clubs the youngster would consider. A competitive team with Premier League ambitions. His versatility is also a bonus, he can be used in midfield as well as attack. Adding the England U21 star in January could be a massive coup.
