Leeds United have officially confirmed the signing of Harry Wilson on a long-term deal. The former Fulham man joins the club as a free agent.

Wilson becomes the club’s first summer signing.

Just like with last summer’s window, the first signing announced is a free agent. Leeds fans will be eager to see how Wilson performs, with how well Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin did this past season.

Daniel Farke finally gets the midfield profile he has been after for years.

Wilson had 11 goals and eight assists in all competitions last season, and can play in midfield and attack. He will be a very valuable signing who comes with a lot of Premier League experience.

Leeds United transfer plans revealed after Harry Wilson signing

It looks like Leeds United are keen on revamping their midfield from last season.

Wilson signed will be the first player in this. Reports have suggested that Southampton’s Shea Charles is the priority target for this summer window; the Whites have already had two bids rejected.

Julian Brandt is another name on the radar, the 30-year old German is a free agent this summer.

TEAMtalk have given a few more details as to what the plan is for Leeds as the transfer window progresses.

The club will aim to make five to six signings this summer to build on last season’s 14th-placed finish in the Premier League. So after Wilson is done, they will move quickly to bring another player to Elland Road.

Last season saw 10 new additions to the first team as the 49ers spent big. Hopefully fans see that ambition this summer.

Which areas will the Whites target?

Despite doing well last season, the real job starts now.

Next season will be an even more difficult campaign to navigate for Daniel Farke and his men. There are multiple areas of the squad that need to be addressed to improve the team.

Goalkeeping will be a major need; Lucas Perri remains the only first team goalkeeper under contract.

With Karl Darlow’s future up in the air, the 49ers need to address this immediately.

The club’s midfield will also need an injection of quality; Leeds are already working on that by trying to add Shea Charles in this window.

Up top, Dominic Calvert-Lewin will need serious support in attack, with the club’s poor scoring record this past season.
