Leeds United came away from Old Trafford with a massive 2-1 win over Manchester United, giving themselves a six-point buffer above the relegation zone.

It was their first league victory at the ground in more than 45 years, and it could be a defining moment in their push for Premier League survival.

Noah Okafor led the charge with two goals in a commanding first-half display, with Leeds creating plenty of chances they might feel they should have taken.

Lisandro Martinez’s red card for pulling Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s ponytail made things even tougher for Manchester United, and although Casemiro got one back, Leeds held on to secure a crucial three points.

Manchester United fans left fuming after Leeds defeat

Michael Carrick redirected his anger towards Paul Tierney and insisted that the decision to send off Lisandro Martinez was one of the worst he had seen.

The Manchester United fans seem to be doing the same thing, and many of their supporters are slamming the referee for an inconsistent performance.

One Manchester United fan cannot understand why VAR intervened when Martinez’s foul was not clear and obvious. He is also baffled that the referee and VAR missed Calvert-Lewin elbowing Leny Yoro.

He said: “Another hit job by PGMOL.

“Not giving a red for that was a clear and obvious mistake? But the really nasty elbow in the face of Yoro on the 1st goal doesn’t warrant a review?”

Several Manchester United fans pointed out a video of Tierney ignoring Fulham’s Kenny Tete pulling Antoine Semenyo’s hair earlier in the season.

He questioned: “How has Tierney decided this isn’t a red card but Martinez’s is?”

One more Manchester United supporter added, “A reminder that nothing was given here against Tete for his pull on Semenyo.

“The Premier League and their referees just pick and choose when to apply the rules.”

Even former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand questioned the referee on X and said, “Explain PGMOL.”

The Whites deserved some luck

Leeds have been on the wrong end of plenty of refereeing calls this season, but at Old Trafford, things finally went their way.

Even Dominic Calvert-Lewin admitted he wasn’t sure Lisandro Martinez actually meant to pull his hair, despite it resulting in a red card.

His elbow on Yoro could easily have been given as a foul on another day, but everything seemed to fall into place for Leeds as they secured the win.

After some questionable decisions earlier in the season, Leeds fans will feel their side was due a bit of luck.

And as for Manchester United, they’re probably the last club that can complain about refereeing calls at Old Trafford.
