Leeds United have been quietly building a quality team for the Premier League next season. The squad now feels like it has adequate depth over a whole campaign.
Daniel Farke focused on using a small core of players last season. And it nearly backfired at some points, including during the middle of the season when both Ethan Ampadu and Illia Gruev picked up long-term injuries. Lack of rotation also affected players like Joel Piroe and Brenden Aaronson, who had some poor stretches of form from January.
With four new signings, and two more in the pipeline, Leeds have added some serious quality to the squad depth.

Leeds United linked with Millwall star
This summer, Leeds have been linked with a move for Japhet Tanganga.
The former Spurs man had a great season and is on the radar of many clubs. His reported £1.2million release clause makes him a very attainable option for most clubs across England. According to reports, there is also some interest from Europe in the defender.

Millwall boss Alex Neil spoke on the club and the situation around the transfers this summer. He admitted that it could be difficult to keep the club’s best players including Japhet Tanganga:
“I know there’s a lot of speculation, as there always is, whether it be with Japhet or whether it be with Mihailo or whether it be with anybody else.” he said to Southwark News.
“We are not actively looking to try and sell anyone. We want to try and retain the squad, and we want to try and grow and build and be good this season. Equally, if somebody comes in with offers that are way beyond what we would maybe have as an evaluation of a player, then certain decisions may well get made.
“What I will tell you is we have no ambitions or certainly no effort is going into trying to move any of our players. We want to keep them here…”
Leeds could use more depth in defence
The club need depth in the fullback areas. Even though Tanganga is mainly a center back, he is adept at playing fullback. Leeds made the decision to sign Gabriel Gudmundsson from Lille as a replacement for Junior Firpo. Isac Schmidt is still at the club, but no one expects him to play a significant number of minutes this season.

Sam Byram was given a new deal, so at least he can step in at the back. Despite all this it still looks like Leeds need another fullback, and Japhet Tanganga could be the solution. The defender is versatile and can fit a variety of roles this summer. He is an excellent defender and will be a nightmare for wingers.
