Leeds United are preparing for a big Premier League game against Burnley at home on Friday night, following their disappointing FA Cup semi-final defeat against Chelsea.
Daniel Farke and the Leeds team will look to get over the FA Cup disappointment quickly and be ready for a big game at Elland Road at the end of the week.
Leeds have already hit the 40-point mark, the proverbial benchmark for Premier League survival, and a win over Burnley on Friday night will almost certainly seal safety.
However, Farke and his Leeds team will have bitter memories of the referee appointed for the key clash against the Clarets at Elland Road this week.
Thomas Bramall will take charge of the Leeds vs Burnley clash
Leeds have had the rub of the green go their way when it comes to a few refereeing decisions over the last few weeks. However, they may not want to revisit the memories of the official in charge of the game against Burnley.
The Premier League has confirmed that Thomas Bramall will be the referee for the clash between Leeds and Burnley at the end of the week.
He will be assisted by Constantine Hatzidakis and Craig Taylor, with Adam Herczeg acting as the fourth official in the technical area.
Tim Wood will be the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), and Jarred Gillett, who was in charge of the FA Cup semi-final, will be the assistant VAR.
Leeds will hope that Bramall will show more common sense and be less card-happy compared to the last time he took charge of a Whites game.
A Leeds sending off that is still baffling
Bramall was in charge of Leeds’ 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace in March and produced a bizarre red card to send off Gudmundsson.
It was clear that the referee had forgotten that he had yellow-carded the Swede earlier in the game and produced a second yellow card for an innocuous incident.
Leeds managed to hold on to a draw and leave south London with a point in their bag. However, they were not impressed with Bramall’s decision-making.
PGMOL apologised for the refereeing error after the game, but the Leeds manager was not at all happy with what transpired.
Gudmundsson is unlikely to be involved for the Burnley game due to a hamstring injury, but Daniel Farke will hope that the referee shows a better presence of mind at Elland Road.
