Tottenham tell Leeds promotion hero to leave in cut-price transfer

Leeds United exceeded expectations in their first season back in the Premier League, finishing 14th and ending the campaign ahead of several clubs with far greater top-flight pedigree.

While Leeds secured their status comfortably, it was a miserable year for others. West Ham suffered relegation after 14 consecutive seasons in the Premier League, while Tottenham endured another disappointing campaign and finished uncomfortably close to the bottom end of the table for the second year in a row.

That said, Leeds know they cannot stand still. The club face another important summer of recruitment, particularly with Tottenham already making moves in the transfer market that suggest they are determined to avoid another season spent looking over their shoulder.

Spurs are also expected to trim their squad over the coming months, with several fringe players likely to move on. Among them is former Leeds winger Manor Solomon, who appears set to leave north London as part of the club’s summer overhaul.

Roberto De Zerbi has told Manor Solomon to leave Spurs

Leeds United were strongly linked with a permanent move for Manor Solomon last summer after the winger played a key role in their promotion-winning campaign during his loan spell at Elland Road.

Despite the speculation, Leeds opted against pursuing a deal and instead brought in Noah Okafor, who went on to make a positive contribution and has generally proved to be a solid addition to Daniel Farke’s squad.

Solomon’s career took a different path. Tottenham initially sent him on loan to Villarreal, but he struggled to make an impact in Spain and was subsequently loaned out again to Fiorentina during the January transfer window.

The winger found it difficult to establish himself at either club and endured a frustrating season overall. As things stand, he is expected to report back to Tottenham for pre-season.

However, according to Football London, Roberto De Zerbi has made up his mind about the winger even before pre-season begins.

The Tottenham boss has clearly told Solomon that he is not part of his plans, and he should look for a transfer this summer.

Any hope that the winger had about his former Shakhtar Donetsk coach giving him an opportunity has gone up in smoke.

Spurs will have to agree to let him leave for a cut-price fee, but they remain keen to sell him on a permanent deal rather than another loan.

Leeds will not re-sign him

Manor Solomon enjoyed a hugely successful spell at Leeds United, scoring crucial goals and providing key assists as the club secured promotion during the memorable 2024/25 campaign.

A return to Elland Road was heavily discussed throughout last summer, but despite the speculation, Leeds never followed up their interest with a serious attempt to sign him from Tottenham.

Instead, Daniel Farke chose to move for Noah Okafor, believing the Swiss international would offer more to the squad. Given how Okafor performed last season, that decision appears to have been fully justified.

Since leaving Leeds, Solomon has struggled to recapture the form that made him such a success in West Yorkshire. Loan spells at Villarreal and Fiorentina failed to reignite his career, and he endured a difficult season in both Spain and Italy.

With Leeds now operating in a different system and placing less emphasis on traditional wingers, a move back for Solomon no longer makes much sense. The squad’s needs have changed, and a reunion that once felt realistic now appears highly unlikely.
