With pre-season set to start in a few weeks, Leeds are now pressing ahead with their plans to improve their squad and are pushing to get a few deals over the line.
Daniel Farke wants a few of his new signings in the building before the team reassemble for pre-season next month, barring a few of their World Cup stars.
Leeds are pushing ahead with plans to strengthen the squad and have made significant progress in negotiations with Southampton for Shea Charles, who has also attracted attention from Manchester United.
However, Leeds have made real progress in talks with Harry Wilson and are pushing to secure his signature on a free transfer as soon as possible this summer.
Harry Wilson is sold on joining Leeds United
Leeds were on the verge of signing Harry Wilson on deadline day last summer, before Fulham pulled the plug on a deal to sell him in the final minutes of the window.
He will be out of contract in less than a week and will not be signing a new deal with Fulham despite having an offer on the table.
Leeds have been in talks with his representatives and have offered him a lucrative package. However, they are wary of competition from Everton, Aston Villa and Benfica.
But according to the journalist Adonis Storr, Wilson is being sold a move to Leeds by club captain Ethan Ampadu and the rest of his Welsh teammates.
Ampadu, Joe Rodon and Dan James are trying to convince the Fulham winger to agree to move to Elland Road over Villa or Everton this summer.
The Welsh contingent is in his ears, and that has put Leeds in pole position to sign the winger in the ongoing transfer window.
Leeds have also tabled a lucrative financial offer, which includes a long-term contract with big wages and a hefty signing-on bonus.
His arrival will push at least one player out of the club
Harry Wilson was one of the Premier League’s standout wide attackers last season and played a key role in Fulham’s attacking success, often serving as their most dangerous forward.
If Leeds United manage to bring him to Elland Road, though, it could have significant consequences for the current squad. Wilfried Gnonto’s future would look even more uncertain, with the Italian likely to see his path to regular first-team football become even narrower.
Wilson’s arrival could also increase the pressure on Noah Okafor, who has endured a difficult World Cup campaign with Switzerland and may find himself facing even greater competition for a starting spot.
Given Wilson’s status and the level of interest in him, Leeds would almost certainly need to offer assurances over his role in the team. If he does make the move, it is hard to imagine him arriving without the expectation of being a regular starter under Daniel Farke.
