Leeds United were expected to push on after confirming the capture of Nico Elvedi this week. It is believed that the 49ers are after a few targets before the window closes.

Daniel Farke’s men are in Premier League action this weekend as they face Nottingham Forest.

The fanbase are very optimistic going into this season following some impressive results in pre-season.

Leeds’ transfer additions are also something the club will be hoping improves their overall quality. The aim will be no doubt to better last year’s 14th-placed finish, but Farke has already warned that it will not be that easy this time around.

In the German’s press conference on Thursday, he also admitted that he wants the club to push for a few more signings.

Leeds United transfer on hold despite agreement

After Elvedi was confirmed as a Leeds United player, news emerged that the club had lined up another target.

Per The Athletic, the Whites had agreed a deal in principle for Eintracht Frankfurt keeper Michael Zetterer. However, a fee had not been confirmed and the transfer had not gone through.

In order for everything to be finalized, some things must fall in place.

Frankfurt are said to be eyeing a replacement before they allow Zetterer to leave the club.

On Leeds United’s end, Lucas Perri must also complete his transfer move to Torino. It has been weeks since the Brazilian was linked with an exit, but nothing has been finalized.

The latest hitch comes from the Turin club’s side, as TifoGranta report that the deal has not been completed.

Perri’s agent is in Italy to try and get the deal over the line, but the main issue is that the Serie A side want to sell a player first. Leeds and Torino have already reached a loan agreement with a £12 million option to buy.

What happens next?

It is quite obvious Torino will not collapse the deal over a player they have pursued all summer.

So the Italian club will find a way around things to seal the deal for Lucas Perri.

Leeds United already believe the transfer will be completed, and that is shown by their pursuit of Frankfurt keeper Michael Zetterer. But similar to the situation with Nico Elvedi and Sebstiaan Bornauw; one deal will depend on the other.

The club must hope to at least get another transfer across the line as they push for other deals before the deadline.

Leeds cannot go into this season with Alex Cairns as their backup goalkeeper.
