Leeds United fans are still optimistic about the new season even after the draw against Manchester United in Ireland. The Whites lost that game on penalties, but were impressive in regulation time.

Daniel Farke’s side are back at Elland Road this weekend as they face Augsburg.

Leeds have had a pretty eventful summer, going on their training camp in the US before returning to the UK.

The club have lost just one friendly so far; their first game of the summer against Wrexham. Farke’s men have gone on to beat Sunderland, Liverpool and RB Leipzig in their last game at Elland Road.

Saturday afternoon is the final test for the Whites before they kick off their season in a week’s time.

Injury news ahead of Leeds United vs Augsburg clash

Leeds United are away to Nottingham Forest in their first Premier League game of the season.

They host Manuel Baum and his Augsburg side, which will be the second German team they have faced in the space of a week.

Ahead of Saturday afternoon, the club are still dealing with some injury doubts.

Gabriel Gudmundsson is still out with an injury he picked up in Chicago. Daniel Farke revealed that the defender might miss the first game against Forest next week.

Ilia Gruev is also expected to be absent, as the midfielder is yet to be ready for action.

Lucas Perri is set for a transfer move away from Elland Road, so his potential participation on Saturday remains a doubt. Sebastiaan Bornauw could also miss out, with HSV closing in on a deal.

Good news for Daniel Fakre and Leeds United is that Noah Okafor is ready after featuring on Wednesday night.

How have Augsburg been in pre-season?

The German Bundesliga side finished in ninth place in the league last season, just four points off a place in Europe.

Coach Manuel Baum will be continue in charge of the club this coming season.

Augsburg have played four pre-season friendlies so far, losing just one of them. They started off their summer with a draw to Saarbrucken in Germany, before losing to Bournemouth in Austria a few days later.

The German club then recorded a huge 15-0 win over amateur Austrian club Schwaz.

Their last game was a week ago in Germany, where they beat Italian side Sassuolo 3-2. They face Leeds in their final pre-season game before they begin their season with a DFB Pokal clash.
