Leeds United have a date at Wembley this weekend as they take on Chelsea for a place in the FA Cup final. The Whites have surprised everyone this season with their cup run.

Daniel Farke has not really been a fan of cup competitions since arriving at the club, but things have gone his way this season. Leeds have used the FA Cup to rotate players this season. The likes of Lucas Perri, Ao Tanaka and Wilfried Gnonto got many minutes in this run to the semi-final. This weekend will see the Whites play in the semi-final of the cup competition for the first time in over 35 years.

But they will first face Bournemouth midweek at the Vitality stadium. It will be a difficult task as the Cherries are currently on a 13-game unbeaten run.

Chelsea reveal new manager after sacking Liam Rosenior

Leeds’ opponents Chelsea have had a horrid week so far. The Blues lost to bitter rivals Manchester United over the weekend, and sustained another huge blow midweek. The club had been under serious pressure following a run of consecutive league defeats. And on Tuesday night, they were handed another huge loss against Brighton, losing 3-0 at the AmEx Stadium.

Wednesday morning saw serious reports about the future of Liam Rosenior. The Blues held multiple meetings over the former Strasbourg boss’ position at the club. David Ornstein of The Athletic confirmed late on Wednesday that Chelsea have taken the decision to sack Rosenior due to a run of bad results. Tuesday night was said to be a pivotal moment, with the club deciding against giving the former Hull City boss more time in charge. Calum McFarlane will take over as interim coach for the rest of the season, before a new permanent manager is appointed.

Massive boost for Leeds United ahead of FA Cup semi-final

The Blues have taken the huge decision to get rid of Liam Rosenior before the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds. This gives the Whites the slight edge heading into the game. A new interim manager will have to adapt, set up the team and prepare for Daniel Farke’s side in the space of days before the clash at Wembley. The Blues are unstable and in poor form, and the club has shaken up things in the technical team just days ahead of their biggest game of the season. If Leeds can continue their form this weekend, they could book a place in the FA Cup final.
