There has been a massive shakeup behind the scenes at Chelsea this week. The Blues have sacked Liam Rosenior just days ahead of their FA Cup clash with Leeds United at Wembley.

The Chelsea leadership decided not to move forward with Rosenior after a shocking 3-0 loss to Brighton on Tuesday night. Before that, the Blues had lost four league games in a row, failing to score in any of them. Things were not going well in and around the club, and it all culminated at the AmEx Stadium. After full time against Brighton, a section of away fans started booing Liam Rosenior and the players, berating them for their performance.

According to David Ornstein, Chelsea wanted to give Rosenior time even with the defeat on Tuesday night. But considering the FA Cup semi-final, and the fact that the team was slipping out of contention for Europe, they decided to pull the plug.

Rosenior will not be in charge of the Blues when they face Leeds United this weekend, as Calum McFarlane will take over as interim coach. The London club will reportedly not make a choice on their next permanent manager until the end of the season.

With the change in manager, comes a lot of factors being shifted ahead of the FA Cup semi-final. Andy Goldstein has said on talkSPORT that Rosenior’s sacking has changed his mind on who will progress the to final this weekend.

“Before, I was fancying Leeds to beat Chelsea this weekend with Rosenior in charge.

“Now Rosenior has gone I’ve changed my mind. I definitely give Chelsea more of a chance now.

“I think Chelsea players will play up more now and they’ll probably win that game. It shouldn’t be that way, but I think that’s what happens.”

A new manager changes everything ahead of this weekend at Wembley

Chelsea sacking Liam Rosenior can be a threat to Leeds going into the weekend. An interim boss could be exactly what the Chelsea players need to triumph over the Whites to get to the FA Cup final. One of the reasons the Blues pulled the plug was because they feared not reaching the final of the competition. And with McFarlane in the dugout, things could go either way. Daniel Farke and his men will have to be prepared for anything when they face the London club this weekend in what will be an interesting game.
