Leeds United winger Noah Okafor received some surprise news a few weeks ago when he was recalled to the Switzerland national team. It marked his return to the fold after almost two years out.

There were reports that he fell out with the Switzerland head coach back in 2024 and was not selected for the national team since then. When news emerged that he was signing for Leeds United, some fans were concerned about the ”bad attitude” claims.

His recent return to the Swiss team was followed by reports that he met with the coach and team officials to hash things out. During camp, he was reported to have apologized to teammates and staff, and is now in contention to make the World Cup if fit.

Daniel Farke defends Leeds United star amid bad attitude claims

Leeds boss Daniel Farke has spoken about Okafor and his ”bad attitude” claims, giving his perspective on the player and the narratives surrounding him. He explained that he was aware of the attitude claims before the club signed him.

“Noah, he’s not blood-young anymore, but he’s still a young player. And I think you can also see during our time here, he is also maturing and learning from perhaps situations in the past,” said Farke.

“I’m quite delighted. I think it’s no coincidence that he is more or less back in the Switzerland squad. He has shown reaction to what perhaps has happened in the past. Also the conversations with the key people in Switzerland were also crucial for him.

“And I think this was also helpful for him to know which mindset is needed in order to shine. Our mantra, to think more about the side than about himself, is quite important. I would label Noah, really, as a player who embodies this in a perfect way.”

Noah Okafor has been a breath of fresh air this season

On the pitch, Noah Okafor has been a huge addition to Leeds United. He has been a breath of fresh air since the club lost Manor Solomon in the summer. His pace, directness and nose for goal have been a huge boost to the team this season. Okafor started off slow, but has really come into his own since January – with four goals and two assists. When he got injured in February, the attack fell flat without his dynamism. His return at Old Trafford showed just why he could be key in this run in. Leeds have signed a great player and he has a really bright future.
