Early in the season, Leeds United boss Daniel Farke mentioned that at Elland Road, the narrative changes every week. And that is exactly what happened on Saturday afternoon.

Ahead of the international break, Leeds lost two games, and drew two. They only managed two points from a possible twelve in that spell. They played last out of the relegation-threatened teams last weekend. With West Ham and Nottingham Forest getting crucial results, the pressure was on.

But the Whites delivered on Monday night, putting Manchester United to the sword and picking up a massive three points. Daniel Farke’s men began Saturday with a six-point cushion above the relegation zone.

Leeds United receive huge boos during Wolves clash

In front of the home crowd at Elland Road, they delivered within the first 20 minutes on Saturday afternoon. Noah Okafor and James Justin were on the scoresheet with the Whites building a 2-0 lead after just 20 minutes. Leeds United dominated the game for long stretches, but failed to convert their chances. Dominic Calvert-Lewin sealed the game from the penalty spot in added time.

Farke’s men received a huge boost in the second half, as Joe Rodon came on as a substitute late in the game. The Welsh defender went off with a knock in the FA Cup tie against West Ham. He was initially ruled out for the rest of the month, but it looks like the injury was less severe than first feared. And now he could be available for the coming games.

A key player returns for Daniel Farke

At this point of the season, having every player available is a huge boost. Relying on players who have not played much these past few months will only reduce chances of getting results. Daniel Farke will be glad to have Joe Rodon back; it softens the blow the club got a few weeks ago when Anton Stach was also ruled out. Now the Whites have strung two wins in a row ahead of the rest of their schedule. It gives them a safety net as well as some confidence going into the next few games. Playing early this weekend also puts pressure on Spurs, Forest and West Ham who are all yet to play this game week. Farke is on track to do the impossible with this Leeds team.
