Leeds United were held to a draw away to Brighton on Saturday. The game marked the return of defender Gabriel Gudmundsson who managed to play the full 90 minutes.
The visitors took the lead as Jayden Bogle found himself unmarked in the box to square it home.
After scoring, Leeds had a bit of a grip on the game until after half time. Then the tables turned as Brighton grew into the game; Farke’s subs did not help as the team was constantly under pressure.
Fabian Hurzeler’s side got their equalizer after 71 minutes and the game ended in a draw.
After the match, some fans were furious about how the game was managed, with Daniel Farke’s substitutions the major talking point.

Early in the second half, Leeds United took off Jayden Bogle and Noah Okafor.
After the duo went off, the team lost a lot of their dynamism and attacking edge, making it easy for the home side to defend.
Saturday saw Gabriel Gudmundsson play his first game of the season. The left wing back returned from a hamstring injury he picked up during the pre-season tour in the US.
Gudmundsson had a solid performance and played the full game despite his recent injury issues.

Daniel Farke mentioned that he was surprised that the defender lasted throughout the game against Brighton.
The wing back won six ground duels and made five defensive contributions as well as winning two fouls. He brought a more stable influence to the team that was needed on Saturday.

Getting cover for Gudmundsson is very important for Leeds
The deadline day signing of Melvin Bard does a lot for Leeds United.
Bard can play left wing back and left centre back, especially with the team lacking left footers in the back three. His arrival also means that Daniel Farke does not have to use Gabriel Gudmundsson all season.
Last year, he was one of the constants in the starting lineup.
This time around, the team can afford to rest and rotate him to ensure he is fresh for the whole campaign. The 49ers saw a problem in the transfer market and quickly addressed it.
