Leeds United are expected to be handed a healthy transfer budget this summer on their return to the top flight. Reports say up to £150million will be available for the Whites.
Club chairman Paraag Marathe vowed to the club that he will help them maintain their top flight status beyond next season. Daniel Farke will also be involved in recruitment this summer. Marathe said:
“Together we are going to build the best squad we can with every penny we are allowed to spend to compete in the Premier League. I’m under no illusions that it’s going to be easy. I know all the stats, that last season’s three promoted clubs went right back down.”
Ipswich Town spent the most money out of the three newcomers this campaign.

All three new sides went straight back down this season, showing how hard it is to survive in the top flight now. This is the second consecutive year this has happened. Ipswich Town and Leicester City both finished above Leeds United on 80+ points each, but both struggled to reach 30 points in 38 games this season.
According to The Athletic, Daniel Farke has pushed for one major thing this summer. The recruitment team will now focus on players who have successfully kept clubs up over the last few years have been profiled’. With the bottom line now being that there will be a lot of signings with Premier League experience. It explains why a lot of links have named the likes of Jamie Vardy, Callum Wilson and Tomas Soucek in connection with a move to Elland Road.
Decision makes a lot of sense
This Leeds United squad lacks experience at the highest level. Most of these players have barely played enough football at top divisions. Adding some experience will go a long way to boost the team’s chances. Out of the 25+ players Daniel Farke used this season, only six had played minutes in the Premier League, outside playing for Leeds United.
