Leeds United will attempt to make it two straight wins when they face Watford on Tuesday night at Elland Road. After an impressive victory over Sheffield United, Daniel Farke and his team are riding positive momentum into a clash against a side that struggles on the road.
The Hornets are set to face Leeds United at Elland Road on Tuesday night, and they’ve had a tough time away from Vicarage Road this season, losing four of their five matches. This past weekend, they suffered a 3-0 defeat against Luton Town as their road form continues to struggle.
Due to their loss to Luton Town, manager Tom Cleverley met with his Watford coaching staff before their upcoming trip to Elland Road to address the team’s road struggles.
Daniel Farke respects Watford amid their road struggles
Although Watford are coming off a loss and have had issues away from their home pitch, Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has respect for their opponent to not let his side let their guard down.
“It’s a side who was used to playing in the Premier League,” Farke stated on Monday at his press conference. If we’re honest, they have played in the last 20 years more on the Premier League level than we have as a club. So for that, we always have to respect this and to be respectful. I think they have a really good blend out of some young talents, but especially also out of experienced players.
“Players like Angelo Ogbonna and Moussa Sissoko, they’ve played on the highest level, they know exactly what is necessary in order to win games. It’s a pretty physical side, especially in the centre of the park, but they also have some creativity and goal threats up front. I think especially at home, they have proven that they can beat each and every team in this league.
“Also in the second part of last season, they have won many, many points. Right now they are just two points out of the play-off positions and were in the top six on the game day before. I think they are also desperate to return back into the top six. So it’s definitely one of the main contenders for the top positions in this league and for that yes we have to be on it again.”
