Deal could be completed this weekend as Serie A side pursue ‘target’ – Leeds United hold interest in player

After signing a defender and a center forward, Leeds United could be in the market for a midfielder. Building depth and adding quality is key for the Premier League.

Daniel Farke needs more players in the squad after what happened in the last campaign. Major injuries to Ethan Ampadu and Illia Gruev forced the Leeds boss to make some changes, which disrupted the team. One thing is clear, the club needs depth to avoid a repeat when the season starts.

So far, the Whites are working on a move for Strasbourg’s Habib Diarra, but a move seems to have stalled. Graeme Bailey has hinted that the club could resort to an alternative target.

Leeds have made contact with Juventus over a move for Douglas Luiz. Other Premier League clubs are also monitoring the situation. According to Calciomercato, Juventus want to advance a deal as soon as possible. The Italian club are looking to capitalize on the Premier League interest to offload Luiz by 30th June.

Juventus want to complete a deal in the next few days to boost their financial books before July.

Which means any team that enters talks could find themselves advancing a deal in the next three to four days. Luiz joined the Serie A club for £42m, but Juventus are expected to take a loss on that fee to get him off the books.

If Luiz can rediscover his Villa form, Leeds should take the risk

The midfielder managed just 26 appearances in total, missing out on multiple games due to injury and lack of fitness. He is still a great player.

Luiz topped the charts for a lot of metrics last year, and if he can rediscover his old form, Leeds would be getting a bargain.
