Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has done an incredible job this season given the circumstances. Before a ball was even kicked, his team was tipped to go down.

Farke himself was also seen as one of the first names to be sacked from their Premier League job.

But the German has exceeded all expectations during the campaign, guiding Leeds to a 14th-placed finish after a rocky start to the campaign.

Not many managers in the division could pull that off given the players and the resources the Whites boss had at his disposal this year. His starting striker was a player almost every club passed on last summer.

Daniel Farke will hold talks with the club’s ownership over his future in the coming months. His current deal at Elland Road expires in the next year, and the board has a decision to make.

BBC journalist points to crucial point in Leeds United season

Even though this past season ended with the team avoiding relegation, and reaching the FA Cup semi-final, things could have gotten terribly wrong.

Near the end of last year, Leeds United were on a losing run that saw them drop dangerously close to the relegation zone. And in those few weeks, Daniel Farke’s job was on the line.

The 49ers decided against firing the Leeds boss, who managed to turn things around and guided the team on an unbeaten run into the New Year. Adam Pope believes that decision turned the club’s season around.

When asked his most significant moment of the season, he told the BBC: ”There’s two for me: sticking with Daniel Farke after four straight defeats in November and winning at Old Trafford for the first time in the league since 1981. The latter was the highlight.”

49ers made the right decision and need to do that again this summer

Kudos to the ownership for not pulling the trigger at the first sign of real danger during the season.

Their patience and temperament ultimately decided how the season would go. At that point in time, Farke was still figuring out the team and the players after 10 new signings.

Credit must also be given to the Leeds boss for finding a solution under pressure. He has exhibit great coaching ability and character this year.

Farke is clearly the man to lead this club in the near future and should be treated as such. Leeds must give him that extension, and make sure that he’s back in the summer window.
