Leeds United were very busy this summer as they ended up with 10 new signings at Elland Road. The club’s summer window started off as planned before some complications in the final weeks.
But due to Leeds’ approach, they were able to solve issues in some key areas. Lucas Perri was brought in as first choice goalkeeper, and Gabriel Gudmundsson came in to replace Junior Firpo. Jaka Bijol and Sebastiaan Bornauw were also solid additions to the backline. Daniel Farke also got his wishes as the club signed Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff.
It was in attack that the club had major problems, after moving out Mateo Joseph and later, Patrick Bamford, they needed some quality reinforcements. But in the end, Leeds only managed to bring in three attackers – Lukas Nmecha, Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Daniel Farke was optimistic of at least one new signing on deadline day, but a move for Harry Wilson collapsed at the last minute.

Leeds have had a decent start to the season in the Premier League – taking four points from a possible nine. Their home form seems to have continued from the Championship as they beat Everton and held Newcastle to a draw there. A huge defeat to Arsenal and a shock exit from the EFL cup can be seen as the only negatives so far.
The performances of the new signings have been mixed so far, with some standing out and others not being available to play yet.
After seeing a few glimpses of some of the signings, English broadcaster Jeff Stelling thinks Leeds have made one very good signing:
“I can’t get excited over any of their signings. Leeds United. I just don’t know who is going to score the goals for them. I can’t get excited over James Justin, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Noah Okafor and so on.
“For me, they needed strikers they could rely on to get goals. Calvert-Lewin, you can’t rely on. Sean Longstaff will do a good job in the middle of the park. I’m pretty sure of that. But I worry for Leeds.”
