Leeds United are still keen to add a striker this summer to ease the goalscoring burden on Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of the new season.
The former Everton forward was the focal point of Daniel Farke’s attack during the 2025/26 campaign, with his 14 Premier League goals proving crucial as the Whites secured their top-flight status.
But he was often left to carry the attacking load on his own. The other strikers in the squad failed to make a meaningful impact, and Leeds’ goals dried up whenever Calvert-Lewin went through a dip in form.
That is why signing another centre-forward remains a priority. Leeds want someone capable of competing with Calvert-Lewin for a starting place while also being ready to lead the line whenever he is unavailable.

Apart from Calvert-Lewin, the other two Leeds strikers, Lukas Nmecha and Joel Piroe, failed to make a mark in the Premier League last season.
While Nmecha still played several games and was seen as a genuine alternative to Calvert-Lewin, Piroe’s stocks fell rapidly last season at Elland Road,
He ended the season without scoring a Premier League goal, and there are several question marks over his future at Leeds this season.
The Dutchman decided against leaving Leeds in January, and parked a decision on his future until the end of the 2025/26 season.
He has returned for pre-season training, and Leeds are yet to receive an offer for the striker in the ongoing summer transfer window.
However, the Whites are in the market for strikers and have registered their interest in forwards who could replace Piroe in the squad next season.
With Leeds actively looking at striker options, Piroe’s time at Elland Road is running out, and he is almost certain to leave before the end of the window.
Leeds have also identified an asking price for the striker in anticipation of offers this summer.
Daniel Farke does not rate Joel Piroe as a Premier League striker
Joel Piroe ended the 2024/25 season as the Championship’s top scorer, and his goals powered Leeds to a historic promotion campaign.
However, once Calvert-Lewin arrived at Leeds last summer, he rapidly fell down the pecking order at Elland Road and struggled for minutes on the pitch.
Piroe became the fourth-choice striker in a squad that didn’t have four natural strikers, and it was clear Daniel Farke didn’t believe he was good enough to lead the line in the Premier League
The Leeds boss often highlighted the forward’s finishing skills. However, did concede that he lacked the mobility and the physicality to thrive in the top flight.
With Leeds looking to sign a striker, Piroe is now almost certain to move on from Elland Road this summer.
