Leeds United captain Ethan Ampadu signed a new four-year deal to extend his stay at Elland Road. The Whites worked quickly on tying one of their best playeyrs down after the season he had.

Per The Athletic, some clubs had been inquiring on his situation near the end of the season as he entered the final year of his deal.

But Leeds wrapped up proceedings quickly, with club chairman Paraag Marathe saying that this was one of the things the club did not hesitate before approving. Marathe had some words after the deal was confirmed.

“It is great to have our captain locked up and here.” he said speaking to BBC Radio Leeds.

“He represents everything we want on and off the pitch and I think it’s a great signal to the market, in advance to the transfer window as well, about what we’re about as a club.”

Leeds now tie down one of their best players in the last few years, and can focus on other things ahead of next season.

Ethan Ampadu speaks on Harry Wilson amid Leeds United links

Leeds United will be in the market for new signings as they hope to improve on what they did last season. Having been tipped for relegation, Daniel Farke’s side ended up in 14th place.

Next season could be an even more daunting task, with sides set to add significant reinforcements.

One of the major links that does not seem to want to go away is Harry Wilson. The Fulham man has been linked with a move away this summer, with Elland Road a possible destination.

Ethan Ampadu told The Athletic that he has pitched Leeds to other players, including his Wales teammates, including Harry Wilson.

“(I’m) trying to sell it to everyone,” he said, smiling.

“It’s a pretty easy sell. Everyone knows how special a place Leeds is, but whenever we get asked how our time is at Leeds, when we’re with Wales, we speak about it so glowingly.”

Midfielder would be a great addition to Daniel Farke’s side

Farke has been after a creative playmaker for a long time to fit his Leeds side.

Harry Wilson could be exactly what the team needs – he can score and create. Former Premier League boss Gordon Strachan thinks the 29-year old is a ‘guaranteed 10 goals a season’ player.

Going into next season, the Whites could do without over relying on Dominic Calvert-Lewin up top.

They need more options in attack, and a move for Wilson will fit the team well. The 49ers now have to try and sign the player this summer.
