Just like clubs across Europe, Leeds United will be keeping an eye on some of the players at this summer’s World Cup. The Whites have representatives at this tournament.
The quartet of Brenden Aaronson, Ao Tanaka, Gabriel Gudmundsson and Noah Okafor will be on duty for their respective nations.
Outside Gudmundsson the lack of minutes for the other three looks to be a concern going into the final round of group stage fixtures.
At a competition like the World Cup, players want to play on the biggest stage. Representing your country is a big honour for any footballer, and the platform comes with many benefits.
One is getting teams to be interested in you during the offseason. Many players are tracked by clubs during the regular season.
So when it is time for tournaments like the World Cup, they can be assessed in a different, high level environment.
Leeds United target could move this summer
A former Leeds United player is thriving so far at this summer’s showcase – Crysencio Summerville.
The winger attracted clubs after he scored seven goals for West Ham this past season. And with the Hammers being relegated, the World Cup has been the perfect platform for the 24-year old.
He has two goals and an assist in two games; and as of this week, multiple Premier League clubs have lined up.
Leeds have also been handed some great news as Fabrizio Romano has reported that Ayase Ueda could leave Feyenoord this summer. The Whites have been tracking him this year.
He has also had a fantastic start to the World Cup with two goals and an assist. Ueda scored 26 goals in all competitions last season.
Romano reports that there is serious interest from England and Germany.

Daniel Farke needs firepower this summer
Last season, Leeds United heavily relied on Dominic Calvert-Lewin for goals.
And even though he delivered, the goals among the rest of the team were not great to look at. Outside Lukas Nmecha and Noah Okafor, there was a stunning lack of productivity from the attack.
No cutting edge in the Leeds team also cost them during some key games this past season.
Ueda will be a wanted man this summer, but after his record in the last few seasons, he is worth the risk for the club.
Going into next season with just Nmecha and Calvert-Lewin is not good enough at Premier League level.
