Leeds United have made an excellent start to the season with a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, but there is still plenty for the club to sort out in the transfer market before the window closes.

The Whites are still looking for cover at goalkeeper, striker and left-back, while Daniel Farke would also like to add a versatile forward to give him more options in attack.

Leeds missed out on Julian Brandt after the Germany international opted to join Ajax, while it remains unclear whether Igor Paixao will leave Marseille before the deadline despite the French club’s need to raise funds.

Farke is keen to bring in at least one more versatile attacker before the window closes, and Leeds are now stepping up their efforts to land one of their top targets.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Leeds United’s pursuit of forward

It emerged over the last couple of days that Leeds are interested in signing Mykhailo Mudryk on loan from Chelsea in the ongoing summer transfer window.

He returned to action this summer after playing no football for 20 months due to a drug offence, and the Blues are keen to see him play regular football this season.

Chelsea have already turned down a loan offer from Leeds, but Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that he has not deterred the Whites.

He stressed that Leeds are still pressing to secure a deal to sign the Ukrainian on loan from the West London club.

Romano revealed that Chelsea would prefer to see him move to sister club Strasbourg in France, but Mudryk wants to play in the Premier League.

Romano said about Mudryk: “Leeds are still there; they are pushing to sign Mudryk.

“Mudryk wants to stay in the Premier League; Chelsea were suggesting Strasbourg as a solution, but the player prefers to stay in the Premier League.

“There will be conversations on this topic, for sure, another very interesting one.”

Elland Road could be the best option for Mykhailo Mudryk

The Chelsea winger has been out of action for more than 20 months after arriving from Ukraine as a highly rated prospect.

Mykhailo Mudryk’s time in London has not gone as planned so far, but he is still young and has plenty of time to turn things around.

A loan move to Elland Road could potentially give him the fresh start he needs. Leeds have already shown how effective that approach can be, having brought in Manor Solomon on a season-long loan during their promotion campaign.

Solomon arrived after struggling for regular football at Tottenham and was also dealing with a serious injury. His time at Elland Road proved hugely successful, with the winger becoming an important player and scoring the winning goal on the final day of the season.

If Mudryk does make the move to Leeds, he could take plenty of inspiration from Solomon’s successful loan spell.
