Leeds United are back in the Premier League for the first time since 2023. Within that time, Leeds have hired Daniel Farke, narrowly missed out on a return to the top flight, and have now won the Championship this season. The club also hit a 100 points in the process of being promoted.
The team and the fans have been celebrating since the weekend. The celebrations became even better when the club Chairman Paraag Marathe came out and confirmed Daniel Farke as coach for next season. Marathe also promised fans that the club will spend to improve the team for the Premier League.
Fans will hope next season could be a repeat of the last time they were promoted. Back in 2020, the Whites finished in the top half in their return to the top division.

Leeds will be wary of being promoted, after all three teams from the Championship last season went back down. This is the second season in a row it has happened, raising questions about how newly promoted teams could survive in the top flight.
During the celebrations, Gary Lineker was speaking about Leeds United on the Rest is Football podcast. He discussed with other guests about how the return of a ‘big club’ would benefit the Premier League:
“Micah, you won the title in injury time, late wasn’t it, your Leeds mob,”
“It’s a big club as well, Leeds, one that should be up.”
Micah Richards, who spent time at the Leeds academy, also chimed in: “I knew they’d do it. The city is absolutely buzzing! It’s great when they’re up, Leeds, and all jokes aside it’s good for the community. 100 points, great, really good.”
Premier League legend Alan Shearer was also pleased about the Whites returning to the Premier League.
“Massive fanbase, I love it. It’s great that they’re up.”
Leeds will always be a big club in England
One of the oldest clubs in the country with one of the largest fanbases, Leeds are a huge part of English football. Elland Road is an iconic stadium, and the club has a great history. It is a shame that times have not been great to the club, but their return to the top flight this year will definitely make the Premier League better with their presence.
