Leeds United have two games to wrap up their return to the Premier League. The Whites clinched safety last weekend, and could finish even higher with maximum points in their next two games.

They face Brighton in their final game at Elland Road on Saturday, and play West Ham on the final day of the season. Daniel Farke has successfully guided this team to another season in the top flight.

Now it is up to the 49ers to decide the way forward. The club have a lot of decisions to make when it comes to the players and staff heading into the summer. The World Cup could even complicate things further.

Leeds United boss opens up on his future at the club

Daniel Farke’s contract has become a major talking point over the last few weeks. Reports emerged that the Leeds United boss chose to put talks on hold till the season was over. And now that safety has been achieved, it has popped up again.

In Friday’s press conference ahead of the Brighton game, Farke was asked about his future at Elland Road. And he gave a very straightforward answer on the current issue.

“Yes it comes to an end because the boxes are ticked and you have to set yourself new goals and I know what is possible here at Leeds United and how much I believe in this club, it is important we are all on the same page because I don’t run the club, I run the squad, it is important we talk, can we keep our best players, can we get new players. One thing is for sure I will just lead a project when I am in charge and we have to speak about it because like we did three years ago we have to speak very honestly and the next project because to survive for one more year makes no sense.”

Daniel Farke deserves a long stay at Elland Road

Leeds fans will be happy with what has happened this season. The club was heavily tipped to be relegated, with no one really giving them a chance at the start of the season.

Simon Jordan even pointed out how successful the club had been, upon reaching the FA Cup semi-final for the first time in a decade. And most of that will be down to the job Daniel Farke has done.

To guide this team from the Championship to safety is not an easy feat. The Whites added 10 new players, and the coach had to figure out how to make them function. Farke has done a great job so far, and has proved he should be the man to lead the club into the future.
