Leeds United have two league games left to wrap up their Premier League campaign. The Whites have already clinched safety, and will be competing to finish as high as possible in the league.
The club being able to avoid relegation was something most people around the league never considered; like all newly-promoted clubs, they were expected to be relegated. However, they have proved themselves throughout the season.
Simon Jordan said after Leeds’ FA Cup semi-final defeat that the fans should be proud of the season the team has had. To him, it was a great success; surviving relegation and getting a trip to Wembley is a better season than most clubs get in the top flight.
Leeds United to give green light for squad bonus
Leeds United currently sit in 14th place in the Premier League, but can still improve on their standings with their final games to go. There is also the added incentive of getting more merit payments from the league if they finish higher.
Getting six points in their last two games could take the club as high as 10th place if other teams slip up. Any finish above 14th place comes with an increased payment of cash at the end of the campaign.
After a gruelling season, with great performances all over the team, the players will also be rewarded. According to former Premier League chief Keith Wyness on Football Insider, the Leeds United squad will share a £3.5 million bonus if they are able to maintain their current position till the end of the season.
The Whites face Brighton in their final home game at Elland Road this campaign, and will be hoping to get something from it. They will then face West Ham on the final day of the season, with the Hammers still in danger of being relegated.

Club must now address contract decisions
The season is over and the 49ers can now look forward to the future. Key to preparing for next season is tying down the best players from this past campaign. There are a few who have been attracting suitors as the season has gone on.
Leeds United will hate to lose any of their stars as they prepare for another season in the top flight. This is why the contracts of Ethan Ampadu, Pascal Struijk and Karl Darlow need to be resolved as soon as possible.
Daniel Farke’s future is also yet to be resolved – he has a year left on his contract, and pushed back any talks till after the end of this season. The 49ers have everything in front of them, and will now have to make the tough decisions.
