Leeds United picked up a point in north London after a 1-1 draw with Tottenham, a result that keeps West Ham’s survival hopes alive for the time being.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised from the penalty spot following a lengthy VAR check after Mathys Tel had given Spurs the lead early in the second half.

Leeds almost went on to win it late on as well, but the Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky made an excellent close-range save to stop Sean Longstaff from finding the net.

Many pundits thought Leeds might take their foot off the gas after confirming survival on Sunday, but Daniel Farke’s side played with the same intensity throughout against Spurs.

Roberto De Zerbi reveals his hope for Leeds United after the Tottenham draw

The Tottenham boss conceded that the pressure played a part in Tottenham dropping points against Leeds and feels his team were not as calm as he would have wanted them to be.

He insisted that his team lacked patience and were trying too hard to win, while Leeds played really well to ensure the game finished 1-1.

With Leeds set to play West Ham on the final day of the season, the Spurs boss hopes that they go as hard against the Hammers as they did against Tottenham.

De Zerbi said on Sky Sports: “We played a good game, not great, but there was big pressure. We didn’t play calmly.

“We wanted to win immediately. In the end, I think we have to fight until the end of the season. Leeds played a good game.

“We hope they play like this against West Ham because it is right like this.”

The Whites still control the relegation race

Nuno Espirito Santo urged Leeds to help West Ham out after the Hammers lost to Arsenal on Sunday, and the Whites responded with an impressive display against Tottenham.

Spurs are now two points above the relegation zone, although they still have a huge London derby against Chelsea to come, with the Blues likely keen to dent their survival hopes.

West Ham, meanwhile, face an out-of-form Newcastle side next, and a win there could put them in a strong position going into the final day.

However, they may still need to beat a Leeds side that has already shown it is not ready to coast through the rest of the season despite securing safety.
