Ipswich Town launch bid to sign Leeds United target this weekend

Leeds United have signed two players already this summer, but there is still a lot to do when it comes to this team. Mainly in the goalkeeping department where a lot of things have gone sideways.

The Whites ended last season with four first team keepers.

But as of the start of pre-season, only two remain under contract at Elland Road. Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier all decided to leave the club as free agents; Darlow rejected a new deal to join Manchester United.

It could have been worse if Alex Cairns had not agreed to extend his stay.

And even with Perri under contract, he looks set to leave. Italian side Torino are pushing to get him through the door in the coming weeks, after having agreed personal terms.

The Brazilian is open to leaving and being first choice next season.

Ipswich Town submit offer for Leeds United target

Leeds United are in the market to find a new goalkeeper; Perri is not trusted by the club for next season.

And Karl Darlow’s departure means that whoever the club decides to sign should be good enough to start in the first game week. The Whites have been linked with multiple names over the last week.

Parma’s Zion Suzuki, Juventus keeper Michele Di Gregorio and Man City’s James Trafford have been mentioned.

According to Joost Blaauwhof of Voetbal International, Ipswich Town have submitted a bid for FC Volendam keeper Kayne van Oevelen. The 22-year old is a Leeds target, but is down the list of priorities.

Blaauwhof’s report adds that the offer from Ipswich does not meet the asking price. Journalist Alex Jones also provided an update from the English club’s end, revealing that the move is not in it’s final stages yet.

A goalkeeper needs to be brought in soon

Leeds United jet off to the US for their pre-season tour in just over a week.

The club is yet to wrap up their potential transfers they are currently discussing. Shea Charles’ move seems to be dragging on as the Saints push for a higher transfer fee.

Graham Smyth says Leeds are willing to be patient as they have their own valuation of the player.

But when it comes to the goalkeeping situation, the 49ers must get one in the door as quickly as possible. The new player must get acquainted with the squad and players early to build chemistry ahead of the new season.
