Monday night was a tense game between Leeds United and Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. Both sides came into the match in different form.
Daniel Farke’s side were considered slight favourites due to having lost just one game in their last nine. Leeds took an early lead in the first half through an unlikely source in James Justin. The Whites created most of the chances and dominated the most of the game, but failed to put their chances away.
Thierno Barry scored a late equalizer for the home side, and Leeds did not recover as the game ended in a draw.
Former Everton man praises Leeds United after result
Simon Jordan mentioned after the game that even with picking up points, the Whites could still be in danger because they play ‘too many draws‘. Former Everton defender Conor Coady on the other hand thinks Leeds United are a very good team who should have won on the night.
“They said they want to start picking up wins, keep picking up points, keep on picking them up. It’s hard when you’re down there, and the wins will come, the confidence will grow, and as we’ve seen with Leeds, they’re a fantastic team.
“Daniel Farke mentioned that it wasn’t just since Manchester City, with the formation, they’ve had good performances before then, that has just given them that extra little bit of impetus now, where they’re picking up more and more.
“They’re doing brilliantly, absolutely brilliantly, that was vital tonight considering the way the weekend’s gone with West Ham obviously winning, Forest going and beating Brentford so it was big that they went into it and didn’t lose, that might sound a bit negative to people but when you’re down there, and its building and its building and its building, the more points you pick up, it’s vital when you’re there just to give you that bit of confidence so that is massive for Leeds tonight.”
Leeds need to turn draws into wins
On Monday night, the away side had many chances to kill off the game but could not capitalize on it. This is very similar to the start of the season when Leeds would drop points and Farke would defend the result using expected goals (xG). And now the club have been linked with signing Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, he will be needed more than ever to convert the chances on a consistent basis.
Don’t think farke should last. The players are playing for him but his tactics are poor. Substitutions and inviting teams on to us are plain stupid.
