Leeds midfielder under real ‘pressure’ ahead of West Ham game

Leeds United spent £100 million during the summer window in order to bolster the squad ahead of their Premier League return. Out of the 10 signings they made, just three were attackers.

Fans were not pleased as there was little investment up top – Noah Okafor cost £18million while Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha were free transfers. When the season started, it was no surprise that the best performers were in the defence and the midfield.

Anton Stach was one who caught the headlines early in the season. Arriving with a reputation of being a defensive midfielder, Daniel Farke moved him up the pitch which produced very good performances.

Bryn Law says Leeds United star is under pressure to deliver

Stach was praised for his games, and was one of the highest ranked players by the Athletic when it comes to summer signings. But some fans are concerned about his recent form – the German has tailed off since his impressive start of the season. Now, he does not offer what he brought initially. In the game against Burnley, he was really out of his depth.

Stach’s performances have kept Ao Tanaka and Ilia Gruev out of the lineup, but LUTV’s Bryn Law has urged Daniel Farke to bench the German after recent poor performances. Law pointed to a moment during the game to show how the midfielder is under pressure to deliver from set pieces after his goal against Wolves:

“I think back to Saturday, and a free kick just outside the penalty area in the first half.

“It’s the same sort of place that Stach absolutely pumped that one in against Wolves, and this one, the goalkeeper saved. You need those, Leeds need a 100% hit record with those moments, those opportunities.

“So you’ve got a guy in the side who you know can do that. You’ve seen him do it. You need him to do it. Every time.

“That’s the pressure on him from those situations because you’re not going to get, that was the one moment when that free kick opportunity was presented. So where you’ve got the quality in there, the guys have got to produce it.”

Daniel Farke needs to change something fast

Something has gone wrong in the buildup to the Burnley game, and Daniel Farke needs to fix it. The defence cannot keep out goals, the attack is struggling to score, and opponents are taking points off the Whites with zero effort. If Leeds are to survive in the Premier League, something needs to change quickly.
