One of the first pieces of business Leeds United did this summer was to sign Ethan Ampadu to a new contract. And now they stand to lose two players when next year comes around.
The 49ers prioritized signing new players to upgrade the quality in the first team.
Leeds were able to sign James Trafford, Nico Elvedi, Tarik Muharemovic and Harry Wilson. And so far this season, most of the new recruits have hit the ground running.
Brenden Aaronson, Jayden Bogle and Joe Rodon were among the players that signed new extensions.
All three played a big part in the team’s promotion campaign. Bogle and Rodon have gone on to become key parts of the spine of the team alongside club captain Ethan Ampadu.

The club have done great work tying down their best players for the long-term future.
They showed that Ampadu, Rodon, Bogle and Aaronson will remain a big part of the club under Daniel Farke. Heading into 2027, there are a few contracts that need to be addressed.
The major one is Daniel Farke, who is yet to extend his stay at Elland Road.
He remains in charge even though his future has been undecided as of the end of the season.
Lukas Nmecha and Ilia Gruev are two players out of contract in the summer of 2027. When it comes to Nmecha, the club are believed to be patient and in no rush to offer him a new deal.
The German was a very good rotation option for Dominic Calvert-Lewin last season.
It was reported that Wrexham had some interest in Nmecha this summer, but nothing was concrete. Gruev was a solid option that Daniel Farke called upon last year.

Should Leeds keep these players?
In this era of club football, depth is one of the most valuable assets of team building.
Leeds need options off the bench to impact games when the main players are unavailable. Last season, both Gruev and Nmecha played their parts in the Premier League.
When Dominic Calvert-Lewin was out, Nmecha filled in early.
Anton Stach and Season Longstaff had spells out injured and Gruev played some of his best football.
Letting both go for free would be costly, as they will have to be replaced with players that cost transfer fees. So ideally, keeping them both in the squad would be a positive.
