With the season almost over for Leeds United players, most of them can now switch their attention to the World Cup. There are a few players in line to make their national team’s squads.
Ao Tanaka was named in Japan’s squad ahead of the World Cup, with the midfielder having impressed at the tail end of this season. He has really impressed since the start of the year.
Gabriel Gudmundsson has also been called up for Sweden heading into the tournament. The left back picked up an injury a few weeks ago and has missed the last few games as a precaution.
Noah Okafor also made Switzerland’s list; the winger has been a standout for Leeds this season. He only returned to the national team setup during the last international break after making amends with the technical team staff.
Leeds United star dealt huge blow after World Cup announcement
Some players will also be waiting to make their country’s squads in the coming weeks. USA are joint-hosts of the competition, and Brenden Aaronson is in line to make the final squad.
He has had a decent season, contributing in the team’s excellent run from December to January.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is another name everyone will be keeping an eye on. England will name their World Cup squad on Friday, and the Leeds United striker is firmly on Thomas Tuchel’s radar.
Unfortunately for Whites midfielder Anton Stach, he will not be going to the World Cup with Germany. Julian Nagelsmann has named his final squad, with the former Hoffenheim star missing out.
Stach missing out follows another blow, as Graham Smyth confirmed that the 27-year old will be out for two to three weeks. He will not be available for the final game of the season against Brighton.

Anton Stach has been fantastic this season
The midfielder came to the club as a defensive player, but Daniel Farke managed to convert him to a dynamic box-to-box star. His performances in the league were a big reason why he returned to the Germany fold.
Stach’s industriousness in the middle of the park, and his ability to drive the ball up the field have been key to Daniel Farke’s tactics.
The 49ers made a great decision to recruit him last summer; they beat a lot of clubs to his signature and it has turned out so well. This summer, the team must make sure they get players of a similar quality.
If The Leeds Press has any pretensions about being reliable and taken slightly more seriously the article requires basic scrutiny before publication. The obvious inaccuracy regarding the final match of the season is advertising their carelessness and incompetence. Please improve.
