“Nothing against Leeds…” – Jason Cundy drops bold West Ham vs Leeds claim live on talkSPORT

The Premier League relegation battle took another twist on Tuesday night after Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

That result means the final relegation spot will now be decided on the last day of the season, this Sunday.

Tottenham host Everton, while West Ham take on Leeds at the London Stadium. Spurs know that even a draw would be enough to guarantee survival, regardless of the Hammers’ result against Leeds.

West Ham have to beat Leeds to have any chance of Premier League survival this weekend, and Jason Cundy has made a bold claim for the Hammers ahead of the big game.

Jason Cundy drops his West Ham vs Leeds verdict

West Ham have lost three on the bounce but are still in with a chance of survival because of Tottenham’s failure to get the point they needed against Chelsea.

However, they are up against a Leeds side who are yet to put their feet up despite securing Premier League survival and have lost just four times in their last 24 games.

But Jason Cundy believes West Ham will beat the Whites on Sunday as it is more or less a free hit from the Hammers and they have nothing to lose.

He has insisted that he is not denigrating Leeds’ quality, but feels West Ham’s desperation may help them get the three points over the line at home.

“I think West Ham will win this”, Cundy said on talkSPORT.

“They have got nothing to lose, they know they have to win.

“I am not discrediting Leeds, but West Ham are at home.”

The Hammers now have extra motivation

Jamie O’Hara has already cast doubt on whether West Ham United should really be favourites at home against Leeds, especially considering the form the visitors are currently in.

West Ham may have lost their last three games, but they still head into the final day of the season with a chance of avoiding relegation.

Leeds, meanwhile, have shown no signs of slowing down since securing Premier League survival and are unlikely to take it easy on Sunday either.

Even so, West Ham now have everything on the line and will hope the pressure of the occasion brings out a big performance in front of their home crowd.

If Everton take the lead against Tottenham Hotspur, the atmosphere inside the London Stadium could quickly become intense and give the Hammers an extra boost.
