Leeds United wrapped up their season with a 3-0 loss away to West Ham United, although the outcome ultimately meant little for either side as the Hammers were relegated from the Premier League.

Valentín Castellanos, Jarrod Bowen and Callum Wilson all found the net as West Ham ended a difficult campaign with a victory in front of their home fans. But results elsewhere, including a win for Tottenham Hotspur, sealed their fate and confirmed relegation.

Daniel Farke is likely to be frustrated by his side’s wastefulness in the first half, especially after Dominic Calvert-Lewin missed a clear-cut chance that quickly drew criticism.

The match had little riding on it for Leeds, which meant Farke had the chance to hand out a last chance to wear the White shirt for certain players at the London Stadium.

Leeds United duo had their farewell appearances

Joel Piroe and Facundo Buonanotte came on for the last ten minutes of Leeds’ 3-0 defeat against West Ham at the London Stadium.

Piroe, the Championship’s top scorer last season, has been a bit-part player in the Leeds squad this season and finished the campaign without scoring a Premier League goal.

He has been heavily linked with a move away from Elland Road since last summer and is almost certain to leave the club in the upcoming transfer window.

Leeds signed Buonanotte on loan in the winter window. However, he has hardly played any football and has been almost missing in the last couple of months.

The club won’t be signing him on a permanent deal in the upcoming transfer window, and he will be returning to his parent club, Brighton, without making any difference at Elland Road.

A new striker will arrive at Elland Road

While Buonanotte is certain to leave, Piroe also looks like moving on as Leeds are in the market for a striker, and he is already fourth choice in the squad.

The Dutchman will move on to play more football, and a departure from Leeds works for both the club and the player.

A few Championship clubs are expected to be interested in the striker, who has a proven record in the second tier of English football.

However, he could also return to the Netherlands and look to rekindle his career there, where he first made a name for himself.
