Leeds United had to sanction the sale of Pascal Struijk to Brighton this week. That was the first official transfer the club has had in this summer window.

Even before the news surrounding the defender had emerged, there were some concerns.

Struijk was part of a list of Leeds players entering the final 12 months of their contracts. So far, Ethan Ampadu is the only one of them that had agreed to a new deal, with club chairman Paraag Marathe giving his approval.

So it would be natural that more renewals would follow.

However, Alex Cairns seems to be the only player open to staying; his future will be announced soon after he agreed to a new contract.

Club sources noted that the Pascal Struijk situation had to be wrapped up quickly. Leeds needed to sell as they were flirting with PSR sanctions.

The Dutch defender was also keen to leave, as he wanted a new challenge. It is believed that he was not willing to sign a new deal.

Leeds United exit set to be confirmed soon

Struijk is not the only Leeds United player set to leave Elland Road this week.

Per the YEP, Harry Gray’s loan move away is set to be confirmed by both clubs. He is headed to Sheffield Wednesday, and will hopefully get a full season of first team football under his belt.

The report states that an official announcement is to be made in the next 48 hours.

Gray spent the second half of last season on loan at Rotherham United, where he managed three goals in 20 appearances for the League One side.

Who else could leave Elland Road this summer?

It has not been officially confirmed by the club that they are leaving, but Karl Darlow and Sam Byram are currently free agents.

Which means, they can sign with any team they want this summer.

Alex Cairns has reportedly agreed to a new deal, so he will be staying. Leeds also have offers on the table for Darlow and Byram, so it will be interesting to see what decision they make.

First team stars could also be lined up for exits.

The likes of Isaac Schmidt and Max Wober know that they do not have a future under Daniel Farke and could be sold permanently.

There have also been discussions about Lucas Perri and his future at the club.
