Leeds United officials set to meet Turkish teenager over a move – Besiktas expecting ‘official offer’

Leeds United scored 95 goals in the Championship last season, averaging two goals scored per game. Daniel Farke will be hoping his team can replicate similar numbers in the Premier League next season.

Joel Piroe lead the way with 19 goals in the league. Leeds only had three players score 10 or more goals last season. They could lose one this summer, when Manor Solomon returns to Spurs from his loan deal. The winger is currently attracting interest from Marseille.

Leeds could be looking to the market to improve the depth in attack before next season starts.

The Whites are heading into next season with Joel Piroe as their main striker. As it stands, his supporting cast includes Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph. Bamford scored zero goals in the Championship this season, while Joseph had three. In the Premier League, Mateo Joseph has close to no experience. The club cannot also rely on Bamford, whose injury issues have only gotten worse.

According to Turkish outlet Yeni Asir, Leeds are interested in Besiktas striker Semih Kilicsoy. The versatile forward has been linked with a whole host of European clubs. But Leeds seem to be one of the major suitors. The report claims that the Whites will fly out in the coming days to complete a deal for the 19-year old. A loan deal with obligation to buy has been mentioned.

Kilicsoy has 14 goals over the last two seasons in the Turkish super Lig.

Kilicsoy signing would bring too many questions

The teenager has shown his quality – he scored 11 goals in 23 appearances last season. However, overall he has had just three seasons at senior level. He took a bit of a drop this campaign, where he has only netted three goals.

It is part of the many reasons why Leeds should not pursue a move. He’s still young, but there is no guarantee he hits the ground running in England. Semih Kilicsoy would obviously cost a fortune to sign, considering his age and record with Besiktas. If there is a possibility of a loan move, the club could consider that.

But everybody need to keep in mind that the Premier League is one of the most demanding competitions in the world.
