Outside the transfer business Leeds United did in the summer window, they also checked off important boxes. According to sources, there has been a contract update at Elland Road.
Since the end of last season, it has been clear that the 49ers wanted to augment the team that finished in 14th place in the league.
It explains why this summer was spent on adding serious quality in James Trafford, Tarik Muharemovic and Harry Wilson. But one of the first pieces of business the 49ers did was to give Ethan Ampadu a new contract.
The club captain got a long-term extension for his form in the first team.
He was not the only one, as Leeds tied down multiple key players that have been a core of the team for years. Joe Rodon, Jayden Bogle and Brenden Aaronson were among the players that penned new deals.

Club chairman Paraag Marathe insisted that Leeds United did not hesitate with Ampadu’s contract renewal.
The Whites have now tied down key members of the spine of the team for the near future. All of Rodon, Ampadu, Bogle and Aaronson have been important to Daniel Farke.
Speaking of Farke, he remains another name in talks over a new deal.
Since the end of last season, it is believed that he has been in talks with the club over a new contract. Latest news suggests that an announcement could be made over his future soon.
One player that is not going to sign a new contract at Elland Road soon is Lukas Nmecha.
TEAMtalk are reporting that Leeds are not in a rush to offer the German striker a new contract. Nmecha’s current deal runs out next summer, and it is believed that he is playing for his future.

The 49ers’ approach to this is the best
Lukas Nmecha came as a free agent and has provided immense value; he is able to fill in for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and can play alongside him.
To get a player like that in the current market would obviously cost a lot.
Per the report, Leeds’ stance is that they are in no rush to enter talks. Which means that if Nmecha really wants to extend his stay, he has to prove himself with his performances when given the chance.
And this benefits the 49ers; if Nmecha is not up to standard, they can lose him for free and if the striker does deliver, he earns a new contract.
It is going to be very interesting to see what happens with the center forward position next season.
