Leeds United step up pursuit of 47-cap international midfielder

This summer for Leeds United is about improving the quality in the team ahead of next season. Daniel Farke has already spoken about how important this is at the end of this past season.

He referenced the 2020 Leeds side under Bielsa. After surviving relegation, they were given limited additions which ended up causing them to be relegated in 2023.

This current team has done well since last summer, but there can still be improvements.

The Whites have added Harry Wilson on a free transfer. The former Fulham man will serve as a much needed upgrade in attack, where the team had to rely on very little last season.

Wilson can play in midfield and attack, and had 11 goals and eight assists last season.

Leeds United set to move for 47-cap midfielder

Improving on the current midfield options looks to be the plan for Leeds United going forward.

The club are still pushing to sign Shea Charles from Southampton. They have had two transfer bids for the Northern Ireland international rejected, but are close to a deal as of this week.

The Saints are holding on to their valuation, but there have been positive talks since.

Reports from Italy suggest that the club are also looking at other options.

Milan News are reporting that Leeds have made enquiries for AC Milan midfielder Yunus Musah. The USMNT midfielder has 47 caps for his country, and is being pursued by multiple clubs in Europe this summer.

AC Milan’s stance on Yunus Musah

Leeds are only reported to have made an enquiry, so nothing is concrete.

From AC Milan’s side, there is a possibility that they could allow the 23-year old to leave. Musah spent last season on loan at Atalanta, where he could not convince them to trigger his buy option.

The midfielder was valued around £18 million, but that could drop given his stock has fallen a bit.

Milan News are reporting that new manager Ruben Amorim will evaluate Yunus Musah in pre-season before making his decision. Amorim is said to appreciate the midfielder’s versatility.

So it is likely that a decision will be made on his future in the first few weeks of pre-season.

Musah can play across multiple roles in midfield and has filled in at wingback, and even as a winger. Such a player could be very valuable to Leeds United and Daniel Farke if they really are interested.
