Manchester United are just days away from facing Leeds United in the Premier League. Things seem to be going from bad to worse at Old Trafford over the last few days.

Last season, the Whites managed to take four points from the Red Devils, including a shock win at Old Trafford.

Going into this weekend’s game, both teams could not be further apart in terms of how their season has gone. Leeds have had a positive start to the campaign, with nine points from six games.

Their only defeat in the league came at the hands of Arsenal this past weekend.

Manchester United and Michael Carrick have been off to a poor start to the season, and the result this past weekend worsened the situation.

The Red Devils now have just six points from six games in the Premier League.

They have only won one game against newly-promoted Ipswich Town. Their bad results have been really terrible; losing to Hull City and managing a late draw against Fulham.

Carrick’s side have also picked up just one point from a possible six in games against Man City and Spurs, who ended their games with 10 men.

On Wednesday morning, a report from Italian outlet Il Mattino is suggesting that Michael Carrick could be sacked before Sunday’s game. Antonio Conte is believed to be the man lined up for the job.

The report adds that the former Chelsea boss is keen on a return to England.

Man United losing to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday has now raised the stakes ahead of this weekend’s clash. Nothing has been officially been confirmed, with Carrick set to remain in charge for the next game.

Carrick unlikely to be sacked before Leeds clash

Despite the reports and growing pressure around the club, Manchester United will most likely keep Carrick in charge for this weekend.

Club football resumed from the international break just this weekend, which will be in the former England star’s advantage. The club will not be quick to dismiss him, and will probably give him the next game to prove himself.

Pressure has been mounting since the start of the season, when they suffered a shock defeat to Hull City.

So all the pressure will be on Michael Carrick to rally his side to get some points on the board this weekend, if he fails to do that, he might be gone by Monday.
