Manchester United’s troubles are mounting ahead of their trip to Elland Road, where Leeds United are ready to pounce.

Leeds are watching from a distance as Manchester United continue to implode, ready to profit from their rivals’ misery when the two sides meet on Sunday.

Manchester United have made their worst league start in 40 years, and Lisandro Martinez’s attack on the club hierarchy after Tuesday night’s defeat to Atletico Madrid has made it worse.

The Whites’ fans will want their side to put this sorry Manchester United side through the sword on Sunday and potentially end another Red Devils manager’s reign.

Ally McCoist issues ominous Leeds warning for Man United

Manchester United have hit the headlines again after Tuesday night, and Alan Brazil and Ally McCoist discussed their woes on talkSPORT Breakfast on Wednesday morning.

Earlier in the show, they discussed whether Carrick is close to being sacked as Manchester United manager, and later talked about the Leed game.

Desperation hangs over Manchester United ahead of their Elland Road trip, and McCoist conceded he doesn’t expect much from them on Sunday.

He stressed that Leeds are a top side, well-coached and far more organised than Manchester United’s sorry performances this season.

Brazil asked, “Ally, you’d suggest that Man United are desperate for a result this weekend?”

McCoist replied: “By the way, I’m not sure I fancy them going to Elland Road.

“I told you, I thought Leeds were excellent for an hour against Arsenal; they were really organised, well disciplined. That is one tough game for Manchester United.”

Leeds could cost Michael Carrick his job

Manchester United arrive at Elland Road in complete crisis, enduring their worst league start in four decades.

Tuesday’s grim 2-0 Champions League defeat to Atlético Madrid has brought the internal tension to a boiling point, with players publicly criticising the club’s leadership and squad depth.

If Leeds press aggressively from the opening whistle and turn Elland Road into an absolute cauldron, an already fragile Manchester United team could crumble under the relentless intensity.

Michael Carrick is walking a high wire; another damaging loss to their fiercest rivals will leave the hierarchy with virtually no choice but to pull the trigger.

A fired-up Leeds performance won’t just secure bragging rights; it could be the final blow that costs Carrick his job.
