Leeds United put on a show at Elland Road, dismantling Newcastle United 4-1 to climb to eight points from their opening four Premier League fixtures.
The Whites set the tone from the start and were three goals to the good by half-time, scoring three times in the first half at Elland Road in a Premier League game for the first time in 25 years. It was a display that had the home supporters thoroughly enjoying their evening.
Ao Tanaka handed Leeds the lead in the 32nd minute, with his strike taking a deflection on its way past the goalkeeper. Jayden Bogle soon made it 2-0, before Dominic Calvert-Lewin added a third in quick succession to send Leeds into the break firmly in control.
Leeds refused to take their foot off the gas after the interval, and Noah Okafor put the result beyond doubt shortly before the hour mark with a fourth goal. The atmosphere inside Elland Road was electric as the Whites cruised towards a huge victory.
Newcastle managed to grab a consolation deep into stoppage time through Bazoumana Toure, but the late effort could do little to change the outcome.

Matthias Jaissle makes honest admission about defeat at Leeds
Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle has conceded that the result and performance at Elland Road were a harsh lesson for his players.
He admitted that his team needed to show more intensity and win more of their one-v-one battles, as anything less than that was always going to be not enough when playing away to Leeds.
Jaissle said on talkSPORT: “It was a tough night. We expected a different performance. We were aware a few weeks ago that this season would have a few challenges, especially with a young squad.
“But the lads on the pitch have to learn this; that’s the most important thing.
“You can say that [Nico’s injury] that it had a big impact, losing our structure. But we don’t want to search for excuses.
We have to win duels more and take it personally. Those are the fundamentals in football; if you don’t bring that here, away to Leeds, it’s very difficult to win.”
He later added: “Leeds is a physically strong team. They are so intense, especially here at home, and we could not match that physicality in the first half.”
Leeds remain unbeaten in the Premier League
The 6-3 defeat at Chelsea last week all of a sudden seems like a distant result as Leeds kept their Premier League form going at Elland Road tonight.
They remain one of the few unbeaten sides in the league after winning two and drawing two of their opening four games of the season.
Leeds are third in the Premier League table, and while the table is taking shape, the Whites no longer seem like outsiders to finish in European spots this season.
