Wilfried Gnonto left Leeds United on a season-long loan to Fiorentina. And before he has even kicked a ball in Italy, questions have emerged around his signing.
Last season, the Serie A side also made a loan move for Jack Harrison.
The winger did not pan out, and he had a very poor loan spell before returning to England. Harrison was sold in the summer to New England Revolution in the MLS.
Harrison made his switch in the middle of last season, while Gnonto left on deadline day.
Fiorentina began enquiries just days before the deadline, before deciding to propose a loan offer for the Italian winger.

Leeds United only considered the deal if they could bring in a replacement, and only let Gnonto fly to Italy to be on standby if a deal was completed.
The Whites eventually landed Jean-Matteo Bahoya late in the window, with the deal announced after the deadline passed. Since then, both players have been officially unveiled and done their media duties.
Gnonto gets a new environment where he can get more first team football, while Leeds landed a player with a lot of potential.
But even before the Italian has played his first game for the club, concerns have emerged. Journalist Sandro Sabatini spoke about Fiorentina’s business, and questioned the signing of Gnonto.
Sabatini was speaking on his YouTube channel, quotes relayed by ViolaNews.
“But Gnonto? What new things do you want to discover? His value has been known for years, and honestly, he leaves more than a few questions.”

Sandro Sabatini is right to question the new player his club just signed. Last season, Wilfried Gnonto managed just one goal and two assists in 29 appearances in all competitions.
It is very low output from an attacking player, but Gnonto was barely given the chance to even start games.
Farke was just not a fan of the winger last year. But Jean-Matteo Bahoya may be an even bigger gamble by Leeds; he is just 21 and has barely had a full season of top flight football under his belt.
Farke even mentioned in his last press conference that the club should not expect anything from him right away.
Ultimately, the results of this campaign will determine if either player was a gamble after being signed on deadline day.
