Leeds United were unfortunate to lose on Saturday to league leaders Arsenal. In a game that looked like either team could steal a win, it ended in disappointment for the away side.

Daniel Farke’s men suffer their first defeat in the Premier League this season.

They did take the lead through James Justin who connected with a cross from Gabriel Gudmundsson in the second half. Arsenal responded, with Riccardo Calafiori getting the equalizer.

Bruno Guimaraes scored the winner as the Gunners completed their comeback.

Mikel Arteta’s men will no doubt be very pleased by getting the result following their shock defeat to Brighton before the international break. Arsenal have recorded three straight wins over the Whites since the start of last season.

After the game, many pundits have given Leeds United their credit, saying that they played really well.

Others argued that the Whites could have won the game if they had taken their chances. Arsenal goalscorer Riccardo Calafiori believes that the Gunners were the better side and deserved to win.

“Yes it was obviously such a tough game, but we knew after the international break that it’s never easy.

“It was especially tough after defeat in our last game.

“I think we had some tough moments, but I think we deserved to win and we reacted well to the goal we conceded.

“It is so hard because we trained only two times before the game.”

Arsenal star is right

There are a lot of games where one team should have won, but Saturday was far from that.

Arsenal had more possession, more big chances and more shots on target. Believing that Leeds should have won the game is a bit misguided, even though the Whites had a long stretch of the game where they were the better side.

In order to stand a chance of beating teams like Arsenal, Daniel Farke’s men need to be flawless at both ends.

Calafiori’s goal came from poor marking with Trafford failing to make an easy save, and for the second goal, the Gunners played through the team too easily.

For a side that have prided themselves on being solid defensively, Saturday was not a great game. Farke has a lot to work on ahead of their next game against Manchester United.
