Daniel Farke took the Leeds United job in 2023, and the club have been on the rise ever since. Initially brought in to win promotion, his stay at the club has become much larger than that.

He has guided Leeds back into the Premier League, and this past season he clinched safety.

The Whites will have another year in the top flight in their bid to become a mainstay in the top tier of English football under the 49ers.

Before Farke took over, the season before saw Leeds have up to four different coaches in charge during the 2022/23 campaign. Jesse Marsch, Michael Skubala, Javi Gracia and Sam Allardyce managed different games that season.

Former Leeds United boss could make shock switch

Skubala has gone on to become a full-time Head coach since leaving Elland Road in 2023. He was U21s coach, and later became a first team coach in his time there.

The former Leeds United lead Lincoln City to a historic promotion this past season. The club had not been in the second tier of English football for the last 65 years.

Skubala lead a successful campaign, with the team picking up 103 points on their way to lifting the league title. He was named League Managers’ Association League One manager of the season.

And because of this amazing managerial feat, some clubs in the Championship have taken notice.

Per BBC Sport, Bristol City were keen on Skubala as their new coach, but made Bournemouth assistant coach Tommy Elphick their first choice. However, Elphick will remain at the Premier League club next season.

Michael Skubala signed a new deal with Lincoln recently, with a £1million release clause. John Percy of The Telegraph has reported on Friday that Bristol are back in for the former Leeds boss.

“Bristol City are close to appointing Michael Skubala as their new head coach. Skubala has been offered the job and is set to leave Lincoln City after achieving promotion from League One. Negotiations ongoing but close to an agreement. Three-year deal.” he wrote on X.

49ers need to make their decision on Daniel Farke

Just like Bristol City making their choice to move forward with Skubala as head coach, the 49ers must decide Daniel Farke’s fate this summer.

The Leeds boss is out of contract next year, with many optimistic that he will get an extension in the coming months. He successfully lead a promotion campaign, and has now secured another season in the Premier League.

Not many coaches in the country could achieve what he has done, and the club need to acknowledge that.

Giving him a new contract would show the fans that the ownership are backing Farke for the future.
