Leeds United’s trip to Tottenham suddenly feels very different after both teams picked up wins this weekend.

Leeds’ 3–1 victory over Burnley on Friday night pushed them up to 43 points, putting them all but safe, while Spurs boosted their survival hopes with an away win at Aston Villa on Sunday that lifted them out of the relegation zone.

By the time Leeds arrive in north London on Monday, they could already be mathematically safe. Even so, it’s still a huge game for Tottenham, who now have real momentum and will be aiming to build on it with another strong result at home.

West Ham will be hoping Leeds can do them a favour in the survival race, and Robert De Zerbi has made an honest admission ahead of the big game next week.

De Zerbi makes Leeds admission ahead of Tottenham clash

Tottenham boss De Zerbi is pleased after the win over Aston Villa, which was their second successive win on the trot in the Premier League.

However, the Italian has insisted that Tottenham cannot afford to relax and they need to remember where they were ahead of the win over Wolves.

He stressed that Leeds are going to be a tough opponent, and they need to prepare as hard as possible to ensure they can replicate the performance next Monday night.

De Zerbi told reporters after the game: “Yes, but the crucial thing now is to keep in our heads what the situation was before the Wolverhampton game.

“This is the most important memory to keep in our heads because in football, it’s very easy to change.

“If you lose, you are stupid; if you win, you are a champion. No, we have to find the balance.

“We have to work this week because Leeds is another very tough game, and to remember in ourselves what we have done in the past, in the last month.”

The Whites may be safe before they face Spurs

If West Ham lose to Arsenal on Sunday, Leeds will be mathematically safe even before they face Tottenham in north London next Monday night.

The Whites are now set to play a key role in deciding who goes down to the Championship at the end of the season.

Regardless of the result on Sunday, the Hammers will hope for a favour from the Whites when they take on Tottenham next week in their bid to survive.

Tottenham will also have their eyes peeled at the London Stadium on the final day of the season when West Ham host Leeds United.
