£11m Leeds United star hints at Elland Road exit with brutal admission

From the information gathered over the last couple of weeks, it is clear that this summer will be a busy one for Leeds United. And not for just transfer deals coming into the team.

Club chairman Paraag Marathe revealed that with the new Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) rules, the club would have to be logical about transfers. He also warned that the team would not be pursuing just anybody.

Graham Smyth also spoke recently about how SCR will limit Leeds’ spending power in the short term.

The Whites spent over £100 million last summer, with 10 new signings. But it looks like it is going to be a much more different window with all these new factors considered.

To put it blankly, Leeds will need to sell before even thinking about making new signings.

Leeds United star hints at Elland Road exit

Some players are already on their way out after Leeds United published their retain list; with Illan Meslier the headline name.

The clearest candidates that could be set to leave Elland Road this summer will be the players who were loaned out before last season began. Daniel Farke gave the green light for many temporary departures.

Isaac Schmidt, Max Wober, Largie Ramazani and Mateo Joseph among other players were allowed to leave.

Their future in the first team is unclear, and with the Whites needing transfer funds, they could be the first to make way.

Wober endured a terrible loan spell at Werder Bremen last season; he only managed to play a total of 114 minutes in all competitions. He will return to Elland Road this summer, but has already admitted that he could leave.

“I think basically, I won’t be the most sought-after player at Leeds United anymore,” he said to Sky Austria.

“That’s very clear to me, so yeah, we’ll see how it goes. I’m assuming that I’ll be back to the preparation normally.

Max Wober should be one of the first exits this summer

Wober has not played consecutive games for the club in over a year, and his loan spell clearly shows that he cannot be relied on going forward.

He still has some value, as clubs showed interest last summer. However, Leeds will probably need some funds to do business this summer, and the Austrian should be one of the first to go.

Daniel Farke is clearly not a fan, as seen in the promotion campaign in the Championship.

The best option for all parties is to agree to a sale that will bring in some decent money.
