Leeds United have benefited greatly from signing free agents in the last few years. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is their best example of how dipping into that market can be a huge plus.

Calvert-Lewin scored 15 goals last season as the Whites survived relegation and reached the FA Cup semi-final.

Lukas Nmecha, another striker they signed, also contributed important goals last year. This summer, the 49ers managed to convince Harry Wilson to join them on a free transfer.

Wilson was in demand following an impressive campaign with Fulham last year.

In the next two months, the January transfer window opens. Leeds United managing director Robbie Evans made it clear that the winter window will be one to avoid.

So the summer will most likely be the chance to get reinforcements

The Whites have looked to free agents to fid solutions, and this summer could follow that trend. 2027 could have a very appealing list of free agents and clubs will be ready to fight to sign them.

Leeds could also benefit from bringing some on board.

Buendia has been a Leeds target for a while, but he managed to play his way into Unai Emery’s plans.

The attacking midfielder has shown that he has the quality to play at this level. His experience playing under Daniel Farke could be key if the Whites are keen on signing him next summer.

Leeds could finally land the attacking playmaker they have been after for years.

Ayari has been the latest breakout star at Brighton.

His performances in midfield would have no doubt caught the eye, and it will not be a surprise if he signs a new contract.

But if he does get to January without signing a new deal, Leeds could pounce and sign him. He would be the perfect replacement to Ilia Gruev who could leave this summer.

Jean-Philippe Mateta

Leeds United hit the jackpot by getting Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer last year.

And they could repeat the trick, this time with Jean-Philippe Mateta. The Whites nearly signed Mateta’s teammate Jorgen Strand Larsen in January, but Palace won the race.

Mateta has scored more than 10 goals in each of his last three league campaigns. He is an experienced striker and can play in a front two alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
